Shelterboxes

ShelterBox News Update

In the last few weeks we have learned of floods, hurricanes and storms occuring in many areas of the world.

Floods in Nepal and India.

Storms and hurricanes in Haiti, Turks and Caicos Islands, Cuba and the USA.

Orphans in Swaziland in desparate need of shelter.

News from Nepal has seen over 700 ShelterBoxes delivered to the Sunsari and Septari areas by 2 ShelterBox SRT Teams. Help in distributing these has come come local Rotary Clubs and the Nepalese army. The ShelterBoxes have been delivered by helicopter or boat as the roads in these areas have been washed away. The attached news articles provide a summary of ShelterBox assistance in the area.

In Haiti, the devastation from storms and Hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and Ike has been enormous. 224 ShelterBoxes have been sent together with a ShelterBox Response Team from the USA. Another 200 boxes are due there shortly.

In the nearby Turks and Caicos Islands, a similar situation exists resulting from the same events. 200 ShelterBoxes have been sent together with an SRT Team. After more investigation of the situation there, more boxes are likely to be sent.

Latest news from these areas can be found on the ShelterBox UK website - www.shelterbox.org

Need I say more - 'The demand for ShelterBoxes continues unabated. Can you, your Club or your business associates assist this humanitarian cause?'

Please note that individual and corporate donations are tax deductible with cheques made payable to 'RAWCS ShelterBox'. Club donations should be made payable to 'ShelterBox Australia'. Donations can be sent to me or direct to ShelterBox Australia at PO Box 790, Endeavour Hills 3802.

In D9810, our aim for the year is 'One ShelterBox per Club'.

Can we do better than that? Last year we did.
